Good Deeds

This essay made me happy. It's a delightful read, and I love both the story, and the moral, overtly stated in the third-to-last sentence. I especially liked reading it today, because yesterday I helped an elderly woman who fell in Downtown Town--helped her up, drove her home, helped her find a friend to take her to the emergency room for what seemed like a dislocated shoulder--and it was such a good feeling to help someone for no reason except that she needed help, and I was there to give it to her. Life should be more like that.

yes, exactly. I only wish I had more such memories of reaching out myself--I have a few, and each one is precious.

You are so right - this is the stuff that really matters, especially in this "me first" world....and makes me feel better than the recipient. I was in a similar situation helping an elderly person who fell get transported to the hospital about 3 mos ago (thankfully, she was OK) and my very small part in it was so important compared to everything else that day/week/month. People like you and deeds like this are indeed the stuff and messages we want to pass on....paying kindness forward...
