Tonight at the Starbucks in the middle of the parking lot at Shopping Megalopolis, halfway between Red State Capital City and Red State Capital City Suburb, the barista behind the counter suddenly burst into song. Something classical, in Italian, I think, soaring and full of trills and absolutely beautiful. Everyone stopped chatting and typing and reading to listen in complete silence. When she stopped, we all clapped. Then chatting, typing, reading, and latte-making resumed.
This really happened.
