A Man Speaks Up

This is a great post about how one man came to understand what it means to support abortion rights. I have stories like this that I can't tell because they are not mine, but they have absolutely cemented my already deep commitment to a woman's right to choose, and to keeping the government out of the doctor-patient relationship. Thanks for the link. I'll use your comments page to confess that I deleted a post from my blog that I put up in January, on "Ask me about my abortion" day (what is that? Jan. 20? 22? the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision). Anyway, so I write up my abortion experiences and the first and only comment I get is from a former student. And the comment is trying to be accepting, but it's not. It's just not. It's conservative and wrong-headed and none of his business, even though I put it in my blog. (Another question I have is why are my most loyal readers ex boyfriends and ex students - this is why I fantasize about the totally anonymous blog). Anyway, I write the reply where I try to address the former student's issues and then I get so pissed off that I can't do it and then I delete the whole thing and make no mention of the deletion and feel ashamed for not being braver. And that's my story. Thanks for letting me use your blog to sound off about it!
