Wasn't Salon Supposed to Be Hip and Cutting Edge?

Oh no, that was 1995...

As if being months (if not years--there's a Washington Post article from 2004, but I can't find the link) behind on the girls-kissing-girls story wasn't pathetic enough, today Salon discovers hip kid music--and their lead is that oh-so-undiscovered ex-Del Fuego of the crazy hair and wild outfits, Dan Zanes!

[I am sitting here puzzling over whether there should be a hyphen between Cutting and Edge, but really, I have better things to do, so I'm just going to hit "Publish Post" and live with my error, if it is an error.]

I had similar thoughts about the Kindie Rock piece. This subject just keeps making the rounds, but each time is presented as the Next Big Thing. Very strange!

why i like becca's blog:
1. i was encouraged to try listening to indie rock
2. i am encouraged to get back into reading again
3. she's only 4 years younger than me.
4. she's a mother
5. she's a cool read.

why i don't like becca's blog:
1. because i don't have time to read books other than text books and research articles for classes
2. she's such a cool read that i'm distracted from the essay i have to have done for tomorrow's class - all about traditional aboriginal healing and modern medicine.

i've been enjoying your blog very much and look forward to reading more. i even liked the fluffy stuff about the stars.

good luck with summer. my son "graduates" grade 8 and moves onto highschool in the fall. he was a baby only yesterday, and now he's nearly growing a beard.
