Go Ahead, Comment

They say it's delurking week. (Mom, lurking is when you read a blog without ever commenting.) (Did you get that, A?)

I'm not one for blog memes and schemes, but I'm always curious about who's reading this (and why).

Come on, you can do it.

I just did it at Elizabeth's blog, and she's really cool and smart and blog-hip and totally intimidates me! So quit your lurking and leave me a comment already (as others have said, you can make up fake email and URL addresses, and nobody will know anything).

Me, intimidating? Bwwaaaa!

Seriously, I think it's really easy reading blogs to think that everyone else is much cooler and more together than you. Because you compare your real self to the persona that everyone shows on their blogs. Even when you show weaknesses on a blog (having maggots growing in your kid's sippy cup, feeling stressed out, eating too much cake, whatever), it often comes across as "I'm so confident I can admit to these things."

I'm pretty sure I originally found your blog through Dawn's. And your short bio sounds so much like mine, I figured I had to stay.

I'm the kid who was always willing to clap along and at the omming in my first yoga class I thought, "I'm game." So, not even realizing that I was lurking, I'll unmask myself. I started lurking on this blog, oh, maybe a month ago, and I've encouraged friends to read, or, lurk, too. Rarely does a method of procrastinating sound so louche (anymore, college being so long ago). I'm a mom to toddler twins, I knit, I bake, when I used to sleep I used to read fiction other than short stories in the New Yorker. I'm Jewish. I like yoga. I got a little obsessed with Sharon's health (it kept me up at night, as did Rabin's assasination). There it is. If I go away for the weekend without the kiddos, I'm going to read Prep. Thanks for Blogging!

I am still reading. I mostly read for the celebrity gossip. (Just kidding, but that is a nice bonus! Did you hear that Angelina actually IS pregnant?)

Well, I'm a day behind and I've actually commented here before, but you certainly don't know me. So what do you want to know? I think I got here from a link on Dawn's blog (she also doesn't know me). I've been reading your blog from the beginning (via Bloglines). I tend to keep reading mom blogs of women who write really well. What about me? I'm a working scientist mom in Colorado, who often takes blog breaks at work. And I still love your writing. (The post about the girls eating upside down sticks with me!)

delurk, delurk, delurk.

I'm Not Quite Sure, but I think I found you through Mama's Ink (and that through Dawn).

I'm anything but a lurker. In fact, I should probably shut up. But I *heart* your blog. And I *heart* you!

Yup- I do it, I'm not scared to admit it... I lurk! But I'm getting good at de-lurking this week, so perhaps those days are behind me. I have no idea how I found your blog, but I've been reading for a few weeks now! I'm very out of the loop, so I live for the celeb updates! =)

Okay, Becca you asked for it:

I still dunno what the hell a meme is. I'm lurking around but I have an old blog of yours under favorites - "Not a Project Mama," which is, truly, a favorite. I have figured out some stuff about blogging but not many people are leaving me comments. I'm not-quite-sure it matters.

I somehow associate the act of delurking with the shimmering seen with beaming up on Star Trek.

But alas, no shimmering here. Just a regular reader surfacing to say hello!

Is it really delurking if I email you instead of posting comments?

so you know I read your blog religiously (and catch up about once a week) but it's oh so much easier to comment by email than by posting comments. Still I love reading your blog for all sorts of reasons.
